The note states that Catherine is forty years old and 'at poetry all that time & she is greatly obl[ige]d to Mrs Dre[ver] for her munificence & kindness.'

The song is composed of forty lines and preceded and succeeded by the story behind it. The text of the song has been scored through perhaps indicating it has been transcribed elsewhere.
